A Scrap Crystals Day in Bedford, VA!

20180218_072557
This kind of a crazy fun day was had by all as we met together in Bedford, Virginia for a day of what could be described as “Death by Triangles!” LOL!

Small, yes – but tiny, no!  And these are easy to sew being cut from matched pairs of strips, ready to sew.  Short seams make the process fast and nearly painless.

You’ll find Scrap Crystals in my book MORE Adventures with Leaders & Enders And yes, there are 96 pieces in each 12’’ block.  But who’s counting?

Tasks like this are always less tedious when we are sewing with friends – or Sisters!  Or mothers and daughters!

Of course you can’t see the family resemblance with these two at all, right?  So NOT obvious!

I see Pat & Jeanette and instantly break into strains of “Sisters, Sisters – there were never such devoted sisters….”  I LOVED SEEING THEM!

Triangles, triangles, so many chains of triangles!

Chains of triangles mean chains of pressing, too!

Pump those irons, ladies!

Lunch for 50, being served by the church!

We lucked out on this location.  The Peaks & Pieces Quilt Guild worked out a deal with the Bedford Baptist church to use their fellowship hall, and all proceeds from our lunch purchases are supporting the youth ministry and their mission trip to Puerto Rico as part of the relief efforts.  We are so grateful, and happy to help fund this life-changing trip for these teens.

And the food was YUMMY!  They just bent over backwards to make us feel welcome and made sure that our experience was off the charts wonderful and it was.

Our thanks to Kevin Womack for chairing this event!

The Peaks & Pieces guild is small in number but mighty in spirit, with only about 24 official members.  Kevin Womack worked so hard to facilitate this big event and we are so glad that he persevered to bring it to reality.  Thanks, my friend!

I would have to say that the highlight of our day was the AMAZING show & Share brought in by this group.  I know I always say that.  It is always wonderful, and it is – but this was stepped up above and beyond and just to give you a clue, take a look at his clip:

As quilts were shown they were tossed onto the demo table until there was a HUGE mountain of Quiltville Goodness – all the colors, textures, patterns and VARIETY!  It left me speechless, which doesn’t happen often!

Don’t worry – you’ll get to see all of the quilts in a future post.  I’ll combine them with Monday’s Show & Share and present them when I return home from this trip – they DESERVE a post all of their own.

Well done, ladies!

The day flew by so fast!  Way too fast.

And guess what?  We do it again on Monday with Jamestown Landing from String Fling!

A wonderful dinner out with a group of 7, and I was back to my hotel room and sewing away by 7pm.  All of those grandiose plans of sewing late into the night since I have the morning to myself today?  OUT THE WINDOW.  I was crawling between the sheets ready for slumber by 10:30pm.

This morning the sky is a cloudless blue, the sun is shining and it looks like a gorgeous day ahead.

Today’s lecture at Bedford Baptist Church begins at 1pm in the fellowship hall and is open to the public.  if you are near by and feeling the need for a Sunday drive through the gorgeous central Virginia countryside, come on by!

Quilt protecting the piano on the fellowship hall!

This humble hand-stitched beauty was protecting a piano in the corner, and I had to take the quilt and lay it out just to admire the creativity.  Is it perfect?  Not mathematically, but creatively? YES!

In all of its cut-off-triangle glory – Awesome!

Quiltville Quote of the Day!

This quilt became the background for today’s inspiration -

Creativity takes many forms, and we all can't live without it!

Have a wonderful Sunday, my friends!

I am surprised the table didn't collapse under the weight of all the quilts! Oh, and the pink Featherweight! Swoon!
